MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA MAY 11, 2016 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 1 lth day of May, 2016 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Mayor John Keis called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the following members of the City Council were present at roll call: CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. John Keis Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator City Clerk Code Enforcement/Planner Cable TV Producer Cable TV Technician Mr. Tom Fischer Mr. Rick Montour Mr. Christian Torkelson Mr. Mike McGraw Mr. Joel R. Hanson Ms. Heidi Heller Ms. Jessica Jagoe Ms. Vanessa Van Alstine Mr. Kevin Helander The purpose of this evening's meeting is for the City Council to discuss vacant commercial property maintenance and the integrated communications plan. VACANT The Code Enforcement Officer stated that three commercial properties had COMMERCIAL been identified as being vacant and having code enforcement issues. She PROPERTY stated that the former Sinclair gas station building at 228 Little Canada MAINTENANCE Road, was demolished in April and is now being marketed for redevelopment; the former Bally's at 71 Minnesota Avenue is now controlled by a developer who is actively working on finding a new use for the property. She explained that the City met with Wellington Management this week, and there is only one potential user left from the list of three, but there are zoning and land use issues that would need to be overcome for this user. The Code Enforcement Officer stated that there have been some issues at 71 Minnesota with dumping and graffiti, but the owners have been very responsive and take care of the problems quickly.
