He explained that the
TATION
Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation runs almost all of the housing
PROGRAM FOR
rehab programs for cities in metro area, through their Housing Resource
LITTLE CANADA
Centers. He stated that the Housing Resource Center for the north and
east metro is located in Shoreview, and they handle everything so the City
only has to advertise their programs. The City Administrator noted that
there are several housing rehabilitation programs available to Little
Canada residents through the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation,
but all suburban Ramsey County residents compete for the same pools of
money. He explained that often the programs run out of funds before all
of the applicants can receive loans, and that the Ramsey County
Community Development Block Grant funds have had a waiting list for
the last few years. He stated that defaults on loans through the Greater
Metropolitan Housing Corporation are very low since they are very careful
in making sure the applicants can handle the loans.
