MINUTES PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION June 2, 2016 Statement to the Council. Sullivan seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. The Director reported the City Administrator would like to have the Commission become more involved in the budget process. The Director wanted to let them know the process would need to begin before the next Commission meeting. The Commission agreed attending a workshop or meeting with the City Administrator directly would work well. The Director noted it may be important to involve the entire Commission in the process this year, but in the future consider only involving a few of the members. The Recreation Supervisor reported the next Market Place Morning Talk would be on June 8th and the topic would be the Golden Center-Lakeridge Adult Daycare. The Recreation Supervisor discussed the latest activities flyer. She reported archery is almost full, firearm safety is about one third full, and no one has registered for Fishing Fun, although she was hopeful this would change. Ray asked if the Recreation Supervisor had considered partnering with Joe’s Sporting Goods to raise awareness of the program. The Recreation Supervisor mentioned the Farmers’ Market will begin June 20th. The Recreation Supervisor reported there were upcoming Twins and Saints Bus Trip opportunities. The Twins Trip scheduled for June 7th was almost full and the Saints trip on July 12th still had many openings. Horwath reported the pump track application had been denied for Little Canada and was approved for a different date than originally applied for in Minneapolis. Horwath noted he would continue to look into opportunities like this. ADJOURN Horwath moved the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Darling. Motion carried 6 – 0.
