STAFF REPORT TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: November 10, 2016 RE: Demolition Quotes Specifications were prepared for the demolition of four houses and various outbuildings we acquired over the past couple of years. The work also includes filling and grading at the sites utilizing the excess material coming from 331 Little Canada Road. There was also work related to removal of all retaining walls and some clearing and grubbing of plant materials from the sites. The specifications call for the work to be completed by no later than December 30th. Seeding and final grading may wait until spring depending on weather conditions. The addresses of the four houses are as follows: • 331 Little Canada Road • 56 Little Canada Road • 30 Little Canada Road • 2801 Country Drive A number of contractors were contacted and here is a summary of the quotations received indicating the total cost for all four properties by contractor: • All Metro Excavating - $60,500 (No Deduct) • Rayco Excavating – $67,200 (No Deduct) • Scrapbusters - $80,020 (No Deduct) • Jacon, LLC - $91,850 ($3,000 Deduct) • Frattalone Companies, Inc. – $99,600 (No Deduct) • Semple Excavating - $105,000 (No Deduct) • Veit Companies - $121,505 (No Deduct) • Nitti Rolloff Services, Inc. - $126,900 (No Deduct) • Carl Bolander & Sons, LLC - $127,100 (No Deduct for later completion). • Bollig & Sons - $133,658 (No Deduct) • Taylor West, LLC – 173,867.00 ($7,493 deduct to complete next spring after frost is out) As you will note, All Metro Excavating is the lowest quote. I talked with Aaron VanSickle and he has worked for numerous cities and contractors doing various types of demolition. Based on this information and the requirements of our specifications, staff is recommending we award the demolition work for the properties noted above to All Metro Excavating at a cost of $60,500. cc: Contractors
