<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br /> <br />DATE: February 3, 2017 <br /> <br />RE: Set Date for Parks & Recreation/Community Services Interviews <br /> <br /> <br />The ads have been placed on the League of Minnesota Cities’ website, the Star Tribune, the Minnesota <br />Council of Non-profits, the City’s newsletter (coming out in a couple days), our website, and Channel <br />16. We chose to utilize some of the on-line job posting services due to cost and targeting <br />considerations. To date, we have received 20 applications (13 are complete) and the job does not close <br />until February 10th. <br /> <br />At Thursday’s Parks &Recreation Commission meeting, they were invited to attend the interviews as <br />audience members for the interview themselves. They would then participate in the selection <br />discussion with the Council and staff in attendance. <br /> <br />The tentative schedule/process is as follows: <br /> <br />Friday, February 10th - Applications Due by Close of business <br />Week of February 13th – Staff to Review/Rate Applications <br />Week of February 20th – Staff conducts phone interviews of initial selection list (estimated 5 to <br />10 candidates). After phone interviews, Staff will narrow list to 3-5 candidates to interview in person. <br />Week of March 6th – Face-to-face interviews with finalists (estimated at 3 to 5 candidates). <br />Interviews will be conducted by the City Council using a pre-prepared questionnaire. The full P&R <br />Commission is invited to attend as are members of City Staff. Attending Commission members will <br />participate in the deliberation of candidates leading to selection. <br />Week of March 13th – Background checks and offer of employment <br />April 3rd – April 10th – Anticipated start date <br /> <br />As noted above, finalist interviews are planned for the week of March 6th. The Council should choose <br />the preferred date to conduct these interviews. Given we have a Council meeting on the 8th and the <br />Planning Commission meets on the 9th, either Monday or Tuesday (the 6th or 7th) would seem to be the <br />best options. <br /> <br />Please bring your calendars so we can decide on an interview date. <br />
