MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 12, 2017 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council <br />of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 12th day of April, 2017 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said <br />City. <br />Mayor John Keis called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the following <br />members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. John Keis <br />Council Member Mr. Christian Torkelson <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />City Administrator <br />Associate Planner <br />City Planner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />Planning Commissioner <br />City Clerk <br />Mr. Tom Fischer <br />Mr. Mike McGraw <br />Mr. Rick Montour <br />Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Ms. Jessica Jagoe <br />Mr. Steve Grittman <br />Ms. Catherine Beltmann <br />Mr. Nick Sandell <br />Mr. Al Davison <br />Mr. Nick Schwalbach <br />Ms. Jennifer Flores-Schletty <br />Mr. Chris Kwapick <br />Ms. Heidi Heller <br />DISCUSSION Mayor Keis stated that the purpose of this evening's workshop is to meet with <br />ABOUT THE 2018 the City Planners and Planning Commission to discuss the 2018 Comprehensive <br />COMPREHENSIVE Plan Update. <br />PLAN UPDATE <br />The City Planner explained that the Metropolitan Council requires all cities in <br />the seven -county metro area to update their Comprehensive Plans every 10 <br />years. He noted the expectations for the 2040 Comprehensive Plan update and <br />reviewed the current 2030 Comprehensive Plan. He stated that Little Canada <br />has one of the highest percentages of multi -family housing in the metro area, so <br />the City wanted to preserve the few remaining low density residential areas. He <br />reviewed the City's 2015 System Statement from the Metropolitan Council with <br />their growth projection numbers. He stated that when doing the Comprehensive <br />Plan, Staff needs to compare the City's development plans with the Metropolitan <br />Council's designations and see where the discrepancies are.
