The purpose of this workshop will be to identify a series of issues that
the Comprehensive Plan should be able to address, and broad goals or objectives that
the City wishes to achieve – in the nature of a vision statement or series of statements
that define how the City would like the community to be thought of.

Currently, the Met Council includes Little Canada in its “Suburban” classification, which
sets some parameters for expectations of future development and redevelopment. As a
fully developed community, Little Canada is comprised of many types of neighborhoods
– some classically suburban residential areas, some commercial, and some that are in
transition. For these areas (and any others), the Comprehensive Plan can be used to
identify how the City should plan for retaining the flavor and character or each, or how
the City might plan for transitions to something else – and what that “something else”
might be.

Examples of issues (and paired goals for each) include the following:

1. Zoning and Development Status of Mobile Home Parks
2. Single Family Parcel Discussion – Remaining Infill Development
3. Development of City-Owned Parcels and City Development Role
4. Housing Stock Conditions and Preservation
5. Commercial Area Development Density
6. Gateway or Corridor Aesthetics
7. Transportation-Related Concerns
8. Public Facility-Related Concerns (Parks, Administration, Infrastructure)
9. Others to be discussed.
