STAFF REPORT TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: April 7, 2017 RE: Quote for Recording & Editing Summer Ball Games Last year, Vanessa Van Alstine received approval to utilize CTV 15 to assist in recording and editing summer ball games for Little Canada teams. Historically, we have tried to have at least one game of every team recorded, edited, and broadcast on our access channel. The summer months prove difficult for Vanessa to handle this on her own given the myriad of duties she attends to. (In the past, we have had part time people help with this but that is also a bit time consuming to get someone hired and trained.) To ensure this season's games get broadcasted, Vanessa asked if she could once again receive a quote from CTV for this work. Attached is their quote of $290 on a per game basis. We assume that eight to ten games will be broadcast (eight if we can get two LC teams playing against each other and ten if we can’t). Therefore, the maximum cost would be $2,900. As in the past, payment for this work comes from the Cable TV fund and there are adequate resources to handle this undertaking. You will also notice this quote adds the option of an announcer at $25 per game. Vanessa has told me that it has been a challenge to get announcers arranged by the teams beforehand and many times they are scrambling to find someone to do it. For an additional $25 a game, we can solve that problem and hopefully have an even better broadcast. It is my recommendation that we authorize a contract with CTV 15 to record and edit up to ten games at a cost not to exceed $290 per game for the 2017 summer ball season. Cc: Vanessa VanAlstine
