<br /> <br />Preliminary Draft: February 27, 2009 3‐1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter 3: <br />PARKS AND <br />RECREATION PLAN <br />INTRODUCTION <br />This chapter provides an inventory and analysis of the existing park and <br />recreation areas in the city. It also provides recommendations for the <br />maintenance and enhancement of these areas. <br />GOALS AND POLICIES <br />The following goals and policies are statements that reflect and support <br />the City's vision for parks and recreation. They help establish a direction <br />for implementing the parks and recreation plan. <br />Goal 1: The Little Canada park system will seek to provide a <br />reasonable level of services, programs, and facilities for all <br />residents. <br /> Policy 1.a: Support a wide diversity of recreation <br />interests. <br /> Policy 1.b: Support the recreation needs of all <br />segments of the community, including <br />children, teens, adults, elderly, disabled, <br />and disadvantaged. <br /> Policy 1.c: Ensure that activities and facilities are <br />accessible to all residents. <br />Goal 2: Support the preservation and interpretation of Little <br />Canada's cultural and natural history, working <br />collaboratively with the Little Canada Historical Society. <br /> Policy 2.a: Preserve the existing elements of historic <br />interest and significance. <br /> Policy 2.b: Provide interpretive displays and other <br />information on the history of the City. <br /> <br />Little Canada Recreation Programs <br />(Source: LCRA) <br /> <br />Interpretive Sign – Gervais Grist Mill <br />(Source: Little Canada Website)
