Park System Plan Chapter 3 <br />City of Little Canada, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Plan <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Preliminary Draft: February 27, 2009 3‐3 <br />Goal 6: The City of Little Canada will provide cost effective parks <br />and recreation services for the public. <br /> Policy 6.a: Encourage partnerships with other public <br />and private recreation providers so that <br />there is no duplication in services. <br /> Policy 6.b: Seek competitive bids and proposals for <br />materials, equipment and construction, <br />when appropriate. <br /> Policy 6.d: Utilize volunteers and donations to <br />supplement the staff and budget. <br /> Policy 6.e: Prioritize projects and spending. <br /> Policy 6.f: Prepare long‐range Capital Improvement <br />Budgets. <br />Goal 7: The Little Canada park system should promote educational <br />opportunities through its parks and programs. <br /> Policy 7.a: Provide recreation programs that offer <br />educational opportunities, particularly <br />regarding nature, natural systems, plants, <br />wildlife, water resources, conservation, <br />history, geology and other topics that <br />compliment the parks and recreation <br />mission. <br /> Policy 7.b: Work closely with the schools, the Ramsey‐ <br />Washington Metro Watershed District and <br />other public agencies to enhance the <br />educational experience. <br />Goal 8: Maximize collaboration with other cities, agencies, and <br />organizations as a way to improve the services, programs <br />and facilities for all residents. <br /> Policy 8.a: Encourage shared facilities and programs in <br />order to be cost effective, maximize use and <br />improve opportunities. <br /> Policy 8.b: Communicate regularly with other park and <br />recreation offices, watershed districts, <br />school districts, recreation organizations <br />and private providers on programs and <br />services. <br /> Policy 8.c: Continue to improve the collaborative <br />relationships that currently exist. <br /> <br />Fishing Pier –Gervais Mill Park (Source: <br />SWB, Inc.)
