STAFF REPORT

TO: Parks & Recreation Commission

FROM: Bryce Shearen, Soon to be Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager

DATE: March 31, 2017

RE: Social Media Update

Facebook and Nextdoor went live on Friday, March 24, 2017. So far, staff has received a
positive response from the community. Since going live, Facebook has reached 448 people from
the posts. That number is expected to increase as a following is built and more posts are made.
Included is a screen shot of some of the performance measuring tools for the Facebook page,
which shows that new people are following the page and receiving the posted content. At this
time, content that is posted on Nextdoor that is directed at the entire City will reach
approximately 540 residents, targeted neighborhood posts can be made as well.

A Social Media Committee has been formed with staff and will monitor and suggest ideas for the
content that is posted. Staff is always open to any post suggestions and those should be directed
to me. More pictures and content will be coming in the future and staff is looking at looking at
the options for promoting the Facebook page to increase the following.
