STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager

DATE: July 7, 2017

RE: Professional Photographer Services

Staff would like to retain the services of James Netz, a local, professional photographer to
capture images of Little Canada. These images would be used for the city website, publications,
social media, newsletter, flyers, and more. All of the images received from Mr. Netz would be
the property of the city to use as needed. Mr. Netz was asked to take pictures at the Hot Dog
with a Deputy event and the pickleball demonstration on June 27, 2017. Staff was very pleased
with the pictures he produced from those two events. The cost was $150.

Staff had sent Mr. Netz a list of places and events to capture in Little Canada (list attached). Mr.
Netz felt he could complete that list for $1500-$2000. Being local and a professional
photographer, Mr. Netz is familiar with the City and has an array of equipment that he can utilize
to get the City good quality photographs.

While there is not a budget line item for photography, the dollars needed for this service would
come from the from Cable TV Fund as part of the new website budget item.

Staff recommends approving up to $2000 for the photography services of Mr. James Netz.
