Eric Thorson
3007 Edgerton Street
Little Canada, MN 55117
Phone: 952.457.3929
Email: Eric.ryan.thorson@gmail.com

Ms. Heller,

Getting involved in the Little Canada community has been on my mind since I became a permanent
resident here in the summer of 2015. The Planning Commissioner opportunity is extremely intriguing to
me and I believe my individual strengths would make me a great fit for the position.
My passion in college was being a part of the on-campus newspaper where I began as a staff writer and
ultimately assumed the role of editor-in-chief. That experience allowed me to develop and hone my
communication skills by interacting with people from all walks of the social spectrum on campus and
around the town of Menomonie, WI. I'll be able to effectively communicate with anyone from Mayor
Keis to a resident of Canabury Hill apartments, while paying them both the respect they deserve. I'm no
stranger to official meetings and proceedings as much of my writing work revolved around the student
government; I've spent many nights in meeting rooms diligently taking notes.
My current work is also applicable to this position, I supervise the Proofreading department at Venture
Solutions in Arden Hills. Not only do I manage a team of proofreaders, but I spend most of my workday
performing proofreading tasks. My extreme attention to detail will be a valuable asset. I analyze
documents character by character, overlooking important document details will not be an issue.
I've been a part of the Little Canada community for five years ever since I started my career at Sagitec
Solutions on County Road D. Some days after work we would play soccer or cricket at Pioneer Park, and I
had my first exposure to Canadian Days by marching in the parade on the Sagitec float. Now, as a 30-
year-old father of two, I'm here for the long haul. I want to get involved in the community and represent
the next generation of Little Canada homeowners and renters, while still acknowledging and respecting
the wishes of long-time residents. I consider myself fair and balanced; I'll be able to navigate the tough
conversations and make decisions based both on quantitative and qualitative analysis. My hope is that
this position is the first step to a long tenure of serving the best interests of Little Canada.

Sincerely,

Eric Thorson
