MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />JUNE 8, 2017 <br />window tinting business, so it already has wash bays and floor drains. <br />Therefore, staff does not foresee an issue complying with applicable fire <br />and building codes. In the approval recommendation, staff has added a <br />condition to complete an inspection with both the Fire Marshal and <br />Building Official to ensure compliance. She also noted that the applicant <br />will need to submit their plans to the Metropolitan Council for a Sewer <br />Availability Charge determination since a car wash was not what the <br />building was originally anticipated when it was developed. <br />Schletty-Flores asked if the signage would be similar to what is on the rest <br />of the building. The Associate Planner stated that the applicant has not <br />submitted their sign plans. However, this site is subject to the approved <br />Comprehensive Sign Plan for the multi -tenant property and the City's <br />architectural guidelines for signage, and staff will work with the applicant <br />on his sign plans. <br />Greg Deyo, owner of Attention to Detail, stated that all washing of vehicles <br />will be hand washed, and they want to be environmentally friendly and use <br />as little water as possible. He explained that he will not use nearly as much <br />water as a regular car wash, and he will be contacting the Metropolitan <br />Council. <br />There were no comments from the public. <br />Kwapick recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit to allow a <br />car wash/auto detail business at 2604 Rice Street, subject to the conditions <br />in the staff report, including inspections by the Fire Marshal and Building <br />Official, and contacting the Metropolitan Council. <br />Motion seconded by Schletty-Flores <br />Motion carried 5 — 0. <br />COMPREHENSIVE Buesing reported that the City Planner was not able to attend the meeting <br />PLAN UPDATE tonight, so the Comprehensive Plan discussion will be postponed until the <br />DISCUSSION July Planning Commission meeting. <br />PLANNING Buesing stated that Commissioner Catherine Beltmann has moved out of <br />COMMISSIONER Little Canada and resigned her position on the Planning Commission. He <br />RESIGNATION explained that there is now an opening on the Commission for a resident <br />volunteer. The City Clerk explained that there is information on the city <br />website, and applications will be accepted through June 30. <br />-2- <br />
