STAFF REPORT

TO: Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager

DATE: July 28, 2017

RE: Engagement Update

As Canadian Days and other events approach, the Parks and Recreation Commission members
will play a key role in gathering information that will be used for the Parks Master Plan.
Community survey business cards will be available for Commission members to hand out at
various events over the next couple of weeks. The information on the card will send individuals
to the City website where they can find more information and complete the survey. Upon
completion of the survey, they have the option to be entered into a drawing to win City apparel
and gift cards to local restaurants.

For the booth at Canadian Days on Saturday, Commission members will be able to hand out free
ice cream cards to individuals offering feedback. At the parade, all present will be handing out
can coolers with the community survey business cards inside for the adults and candy for the
kids.

We hope to be able to leave a positive impression and have something that reminds people to
‘Help Shape Our Future’ and participate in the survey and other community engagements that
will be happening in the future with the Parks Master Plan.

Attached: 2017 Community Survey Questionnaire.
