MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />JULY 13, 2017 <br />COMPREHENSIVE The City Planner stated the City is looking for ways to engage the <br />PLAN UPDATE community in providing feedback for the Comprehensive Plan Update. He <br />DISCUSSION explained that Staff is working on a survey that will also include questions <br />for the Parks Master Plan update. He explained that questions for the <br />survey were reviewed at the joint Council workshop. He reviewed the <br />updated list of Comprehensive Plan survey questions and the process. He <br />noted that there will be giveaways and prizes for people who participate. <br />He explained that there will be a booth at Canadian Days, along with <br />passing out can coolers in the parade with a card inside that directs people <br />to go to the City's website to complete the survey. The Associate Planner <br />stated there will be drawings for prizes, including local restaurant gift <br />cards, to help entice people to participate. She noted that she has a sign-up <br />sheet for the Planning Commissioners to work at the City's booth or parade <br />at Canadian Days. The City Planner stated that after the survey data is <br />received, the Commission will review to see if information is missing from <br />the Comprehensive Plan that the community has brought up. <br />The City Planner stated that the inventory list included in the packet is a <br />rough draft of a list that the Metropolitan Council now requires as part of <br />the Comprehensive Plan Update. He explained that he will continue to <br />review this and the Commission will discuss it further at a later date. <br />NEW PLANNING The City Clerk explained that there is currently an opening on the Planning <br />COMMISSIONER Commission since Catherine Beltmann resigned in June. She stated that <br />APPOINTED three excellent applications were received, and the interview committee <br />recommended that Taelor Johnson be appointed to fill the position. She <br />noted that the City Council agreed and appointed Ms. Johnson on July 12, <br />2017 to fill the open position with a term that goes through December <br />2019. <br />ADJOURN There being no further business, Sandell adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Heidi Heller <br />City Clerk <br />-3- <br />
