2. Little Canada’s Park System provides a comprehensive system of trails,
bikeways and walkways that connect the community within, as well as, to the
adjacent region.
3. Little Canada’s Park System serves the diverse needs of all residents of the
community for both active and passive recreation.

The Commission was concerned that “Preserves” made the fourth statement
sound like the parks could never be changed. Councilman Fischer explained in
the future, the statement could be taken to mean the City went back on its
promise if any element of the park was changed. It was suggested the word
enhance be added to the phrase to read: “Preserves and enhances the historic,
cultural, and natural resources of the community.” Sullivan stated the word
preserve was very different from the word enhance. Darling stated the phrase
should only say enhance, not preserve. The City Administrator suggested
recognize. Councilman Fischer explained everyone seemed to have the same
opinion, but were using different words. Kost suggested the fourth statement be
tabled for further discussion. The Commission decided to leave the fifth
statement as is. In the sixth statement “lifestyle” was replaced with
“community”.

5. Little Canada’s Park System is sustainable –it is a park system that supports
an ecologically, socially and economically healthy community.
6. Little Canada’s Park System supports the principles of active living and
recognizes that parks, recreation, and trails are key components to an active and
healthy community.
