STAFF REPORT

TO: Parks & Recreation Commission

FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager

DATE: January 26, 2018
RE: Veterans Memorial Park Donations

Now that the Veterans Memorial is officially a city park, staff is looking to make a policy on what
to do with the remaining fund balance and future donations that may come in via donations.
Sponsor pavers and Veterans pavers are still available for anyone that may be interested.

Sponsor pavers are for local businesses or families wanting to honor all of our veterans for their
dedicated service. The cost of having your name included on one of these pavers is $500.00. The
Buy-A-Brick Veteran Pavers come in two sizes of bricks. Brick sizes are 4” x 8” with three lines
of text with 16 characters per line at a cost of $125.00, or a 12” x 12” brick with up to six lines of
text with 17 characters per line, at a cost of $250.

As individuals continue to buy Sponsor and Veteran pavers, Staff would like a policy in place on
what to do with those dollars. Currently there is a fund balance of a little over $3000.00.

Staff is recommending a Veterans Memorial Park Fund. This will allow the donated money to be
easily tracked. Staff is also recommending that the donated money should be used for repair and
enhancements to the Veterans Memorial Park as recommended by the Commission.
