TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator

DATE: May 9, 2018

RE: Letter of Resignation

It is with mixed emotions that I am hereby tendering my resignation as Little Canada’s City
Administrator. I have accepted the position of City Administrator for South St. Paul and will
commence my duties there on June 25th. I stand ready to assist Little Canada through the transition
process in whatever way the City Council feels is appropriate.
The 28+ years I have worked here have gone by extremely fast and have been filled with a lot of
success and good memories. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my co-workers who have
exemplified the “team first” approach that has allowed us to accomplish more with less while making
Little Canada a better place in which to live and work. I also want to thank the City Councils I have
worked these many years for the support, confidence, and trust they have shown in me and our staff.
I also want to say how much I have appreciated the manner in which the City Council and staff have
worked together. In today’s world of less civility, it is gratifying to know that Little Canada’s elected
officials have put the City ahead of egos and worked for the greater good of the community. I hope
that culture will stand the test of time.
11
