MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 25, 2002
Scalze suggested that a letter be sent to the owners of Bally's asking that they address
the theft problem both in their parking lot and in their locker room.
Anderson asked if the auto theft has dropped off recently because of school starting.
Altendorfer indicated that problems in parks have also dropped off recently.
However, he believed the reason for this was the result of the County's investigative
efforts with the career criminals.
LaValle pointed out the problem that Little Canada has with street vendors along
Rice Street. LaValle noted that the City does not allow street vendors, and asked
Altendorfer to inform the patrol cars and ask them to address the issue when they see
a vendor set up in Little Canada. Altendorfer indicated that he would.
Altendorfer recommended the following to address crime hot spots in the City as well
as calls for service:
A review of the City's alarm ordinance by the City Council;
Continuation of crime prevention efforts related to auto theft by
the Ramsey County Sheriff s Department;
The City and Sheriff's Department meet with management at
multiple-family housing complexes as well as Sally's to address
problems at those facilities.
The City Administrator suggested that City staff and the Sheriff's Department sit
down with the management of these groups and ask them to come up with an action
plan to address the problems. This has been done in the past and leas proven
successful. The Administrator felt it was valuable to let these groups know that the
Sheriff's Department and the City are paying attention. Council agreed.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned.
F .f €~ - x~ 1 ,~,.. e
Mic ael I. Fahey, Mayor
Attest: > ~. ~' ~~ ~~, s
Joel ..
