Protect, preserve, and enhance natural resources, features, <br />and environments within the City by implementing <br />sustainable practices <br />1.1 Implement practices that meet or exceed established <br />standards for ecological design of landscapes and buildings <br />1.1.1Maximize infiltration of stormwater by following low- <br />impact development principles <br />1.1.2Include flowering plants such as white clover and <br />creeping thyme into lawn mixes to increase drought <br />tolerance, biodiversity and visual interest, and reduce <br />mowing, fertilizing, and watering <br />1.1.3Use solar, wind, geothermal, and other sustainable <br />technologies where and when feasible for lighting, <br />heating, and cooling <br />Canadian Days celebratory programming <br />occurs in Spooner Park every summer and is <br />a collaboration between the City and the <br />Canadian Days Volunteer Committee <br />CHAPTER 4 48
