<br />38 <br /> <br />2. Maintain housing values by promoting home repairs, maintenance and site clean-up through <br />code enforcement. <br /> <br />3. Provide for a variety of housing types that allow people of all ages to live in Little Canada. <br /> <br />4. Create and maintain high quality neighborhoods that are compatible with adjacent land uses. <br /> <br />5. Address the density, affordability and unit type requirements for housing as required by the <br />Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />Policies: <br /> <br />1. All new housing shall adhere to the highest community design, planning and construction <br />standards. <br /> <br />2. Promote and implement programs for new housing, housing rehabilitation, maintenance and <br />redevelopment through the EDA in order to address the changing housing needs of Little <br />Canada residents. <br /> <br />3. Low density residential neighborhoods shall be protected from encroachment or intrusion of <br />incompatible, more intense uses by buffering and separation. <br /> <br />4. Preserve and maintain existing density and character of residential neighborhoods. <br /> <br />5. Protect residential neighborhoods from the intrusion of through-traffic. <br /> <br />6. Maintain a balance in the types and quantities of housing units available in the City. <br /> <br />7. Medium and high density housing is to be included at the periphery of commercial areas. <br /> <br />8. Discourage the introduction of commercial land uses in residential districts. <br /> <br />9. All service and commercial uses shall be adequately screened or buffered from adjacent <br />residential development. <br /> <br />10. Strongly discourage any further spot or uncoordinated linear residential development in favor <br />of a unified development pattern. <br /> <br />11. Violations of property maintenance which infringe upon residential neighborhood quality, <br />pose public health and safety problems and threaten neighboring property values shall be <br />aggressively eliminated. <br /> <br />12. Residential development shall be protected from adverse environmental impacts including <br />noise, air and visual pollution. <br /> <br />13. Accessory buildings within urban areas shall be of compatible design and size to maintain <br />residential character. Such buildings shall be limited to residential use related activities.
