STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Heidi Heller, City Clerk

DATE: July 20, 2018

RE: Community Survey – Updated Draft of Questions

The Council reviewed a draft of the community survey at the July 11 Workshop with Peter
Leatherman from the Morris Leatherman Company, and made several changes. Mr. Leatherman
has submitted the updated draft, and can be ready to have the survey done in August if the
Council has no further modifications. If the Council chooses to move forward with the
community survey, a down payment of $10,000 is required prior to the work beginning. The
total cost of the community survey done by The Morris Leatherman Company would be $20,000.

We did not budget for this survey in the General Capital Improvement Fund for 2018, but it is
expected that the fund balance at the end of 2018 should be able to cover this expense.

The Council should review the updated list of community survey questions. If the Council has
no further changes to the questions and would like to move forward with the survey, Staff
recommends approval of the list of questions and the $10,000 down payment to The Morris
Leatherman Company.
