Ms. Jessica Jagoe, Associate Planner
September 4, 2018
Page 13

Parental Drop-Off and Pick-Up Operations:
Drop-off and pick-up will take place on the south side of the school building, away from bus
alighting and boarding, which will take place on the north side of he school building. Drop-off
operations will occur between 7:30 and 8:15 AM, where there will be an approximate 20-
minute period of overlap with bus operations.

Where buses will enter the site at the southern driveway and circulate to the north side of the
school building, parents of younger students (K through 6) will be required to park in the
southside parking lot and escort their student to the school building doors. Once there, the
students will be greeted and tracked by a staff person, and parents will return to their parked
cars and drive around the school building to exit at the northern driveway.

Older students (7th and 8th graders) will be dropped off on the south side of the school in the
southside parking lot and will proceed to the school building unescorted. Ample space is
provided in the 25 foot-wide drive aisles to allow vehicles to overtake one another on the left
(driver’s) side.

Pick-up operations will be the same as morning drop-off operations. Parents of younger
students (K through 6) will still have to park their cars in the southside parking lot and come to
the school to pick-up their students and escort them to their cars. Just as in the morning, they
will then circulate clockwise around the school building and exit at the northern driveway.
Parents will arrive and depart between 2;45 and 3:15. Thus, there will be an approximate 20-
minute period where bus and parental arrivals and departures will overlap.

Faculty/Staff Arrivals and Departures:
Forty (40) faculty and staff will arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 AM. They will park in parking
stalls that are designated for staff parking. Thirty-eight (38) staff -designated stalls include four
stalls at the throat of the southern driveway entrance to the site, 17 stalls along the western
edge of the parcel, and 14 stalls along the northern edge of the parcel. Assuming all faculty and
staff will drive, 40 stalls will be needed, and staff will be able to park in any of the remaining 41
stalls in the southside parking lot. Faculty and staff will depart the building between 3:30 and
4:00 PM.

Peak Hour Arrivals and Departures:
Field observations and traffic counts taken on Wednesday, August 22, indicated that the AM
peak hour extends between 7:15 and 8:00 AM, and the PM peak hour runs between 4:15 and
5:00 PM. AM peak hour arrivals to the school will total 122 trips, and AM peak hour departures
will total 82 trips. There will be no PM peak hour arrivals to the school and only 40 PM peak
hour departures.

Site Plan:
A site plan for the proposed AFSA school site is presented on the following page.
