MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />March 6, 2008 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 6`h day of March, 2008, in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Chair Pam Davis called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Pam Davis, Chair <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Thomas Maida <br />Ms. Clara Neis <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />ABSENT: Mr. Jim Fleischhacker <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br />Ms. Dotty Noigard, Recording Secretary <br />WELCOME Chair Davis welcomed guests in attendance for the neighborhood meeting on the skate park to <br />our regular commission meeting. <br />MINUTE Steinwall made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected, seconded by Maida. Motion <br />carried 6-0. <br />A motion was made by Fahey and seconded by Neis to accept the February meeting minutes. <br />Motion canied 6-0. <br />SKATEBOARD Davis opened the floor for discussion with the neighborhood meeting of the skateboard park. <br />PARK Morelan gave a brief description of the project stating the Little Canada Recreation Association <br />NEIGHBOR- has been discussing plans for the skateboard park for the past two years. <br />HOOD MTG. Morelan stated that Bill Bach with E. F. Andersen Corporation, distributors of the Skatewave <br />equipment, and five local skateboarders were also in attendance including Steven Nichols, <br />Warren Munson, Adi Karic, Dylan Gangl, and Christian Sundquist. <br />Sanders displayed an overhead area map showing the proposed skate park location at the Old <br />Fire Hall skating rink facility and a design plan of the suggested equipment to be placed in the <br />skate park. Sanders explained this location was chosen because of the visibility to the street and <br />the shade provided from the mature trees during the summer months. Sanders explained the <br />proposed site for the 100' x 60' skate board park would be on the north end where the current <br />free-style skating rink is located and possibly move the fi•ee-style rink to the area south of the <br />hockey rink. <br />Bill Bach reported the skateboard sh•uctures would be precision made of all zinc-plated steel <br />material with a powder coat. They will use a textm•ized paint and 3/0" of high poly material on <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
