MINUTES OE THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />FEBRUARY 1, 2001 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the ls` day of February, <br />2001 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in <br />said City. <br />Vice-chair Ginger Sackett Glaser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following <br />members of the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Vice-Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Ms. Carla Danielson <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Mr. Robert Schabacker <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />JVELCOME Sackett Glaser welcomed new member Kevin Steinert to the Commission. <br />JACKSON ST. Seven neighbors were present to discuss plans for the new park on Jackson Street, north of <br />PARK PLANS Little Canada Road. Sanders reviewed a proposed plan for the park. The plan includes the <br />following: <br />• Quiet neighborhood park with trails meandering throughout. Main entrance located off <br />Jackson Street by Bryan Avenue. <br />• Future gazebo at main entrance to the park. <br />• Children's play area behind gazebo with benches and picnic tables. Play area will consist <br />of swings and platforms similar to the play structure at Pioneer Park. <br />• Sidewalk planned from Little Canada Road north to park. Future connection from trails <br />in park north to the Water Works trail. <br />• Drainage pond. <br />• % court basketball. <br />• Open lawn space in middle of park for frisbees, playing catch, eta (This area is not large <br />enough for a ballfield.) <br />• Laardscaping planned for the entire circumference of the park. <br />• No parking lot is planned. This park is intended for neighborhood use only. <br />A resident of Park View Court asked if the basketball court will be lighted. Sanders stated <br />that it will be a % court intended for younger children, and this size court is typically not <br />lighted. <br />Page 1 of4 <br />
