Contractors have not been interested
in the project this fall due to their busy schedules. The basketball court had to be moved
to higher ground. The soil where the court was proposed is too wet. The court will be
closer to the playground. Extra sand is needed under the trails and the court due to the
soil conditions. The Director stated that the Watershed District has concerns about
erosion occurring on the property. Due to this concern, the Parks & Recreation
Department will be seeding the property this fall. Masterpiece Homes will also be
removing the miscellaneous items they left on the site including cement, blacktop, metal,
and wood chips. They will then grade the land so it will accept seed. Public Works will
be re-establishing the berm along the east side of Jackson Street to help alleviate run-off
and erosion.
