MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 28, 2001
The City Administrator reported that the Public Works Director has done a
very good job in negotiating the price for the 2000 truck, and obtained a price
that is below what the truck could have been purchased for under the State
Contract.
It was pointed out that the issue of exempting cities from paying sales tax is
back in the Legislature. Therefore, staff is proposing that the purchase of the
box and plows be delayed until that issue is resolved.
The Public Works Director reported that if the new truck is purchased, staff is
proposing that the 1986 truck be sold, including the wing and plow. The
Public Works Director also pointed out that the 2000 truck is a single-axle,
diesel with 250 horsepower, automatic and air brakes. It is currently orange,
but would be painted at no increase in price. The truck has a fixll warranty.
Montour asked where the additional $30,000 would come from. The City
Administrator pointed out that additional dollars would be freed up as a result
of assessing part of the cost of improving the Little Canada Road/McMenemy
Road parking lot, there would be dollars generated from the sale of the 1986
truck, and there may be some other Public Works purchases which would need
to be delayed.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-2-54 -APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A
2000 TRUCK (CAB AND CHASSIS) FROM 13OYER FORD IN THE
AMOUNT OF $48,100 PLUS SALES TAX AS OUTL INED 73Y THE
PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR WITH PURCHASE OF BOX AND PLOWS
TO BE PRESENTED TO THE CO UNCII. AT A LATER DATE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Anderson, Montour.
Nays (0).
