MINUT,I;S OF TI3E WORKSHOP MI;E77NG <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNT/SOTA <br />SEI'T>;NLf3E.R 12, 2001 <br />Pwsuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council <br />of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 12th day of September, 2001 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in <br />said City. <br />Mayor Michael L Fahey called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CPI'Y COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael L Fahey <br />Council Member Ms. Beverly Scalze <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Matt Anderson <br />Council Member Mr. Rick Montour <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Mr. Jerry Ivlaleitzke <br />Deputy Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />2002 The City Administrator presented that preliminary 2002 Budget for the <br />P~RELIMTNARY Council's review and consideration. He noted the considerable change <br />BUDGET in state and local fiscal relations and the impact that this is having on the 2002 <br />Budget. The State has eliminated the City's ~HACA aid that amounted to <br />$416,459 in 2007. I-,ocal Government Aid has been reduced as well as by <br />$'1'1,302, and the City's Fiscal Disparities distribution is being reduced by <br />$5,163. <br />The Administrator noted that the preliminary 2002 Budget document proposes <br />a gross levy of $1,929,291, which is a 398% increase over the 2000 gross <br />levy. The net levy increase, however, is 41.76% as a result of the need to <br />increase the City's levy to make up for the State's elimination of the City's <br />$4]6,459 HACA credit. <br />The City Administrator also pointed out that because of the shin iu State aid, <br />the City's tax rate is proposed to increase from 17.071% in 2001 to 29.98% in <br />
