MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 14, 2001
The Administrator again indicated that the Debt Levy Reduction Committee
will present its report to the Council at the November 28°i meeting.
The Administrator and the Council discussed the impact that the loss of HACA
funds has had on the City, and it was noted that while other cities lost HACA
as well, cities like North St. Paul received increases in LUA funds. The
Administrator pointed out, however, that the long term view for Little Canada
is that there its State aids are now very low and there is not much more the
State can cut from the City.
LaValle asked if the City will be able to lower the net levy increase that was
discussed as part of the preliminary budget discussions in September. The
Administrator did not anticipate that there will be much change in that number.
He also noted that part of the Debt Levy Reduction Committee's
recommendation addresses the stabilization of tax increases rather than
providing short-term relief to the taxpayers in a few years and then having
larger increases in later years.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Montour, the workshop was adjourned
at 7:17 p.m.
~,-- ~' -
~ ~ch~e] I.
