MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />NOVEMBER 21, 2001 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City Council of <br />Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 21st day of November, 2001 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road i^ said <br />City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 6:00 p. m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr_ Michael I. Mr. Tom Roycraft <br />Developer Mr. Sherman Rutzick <br />Developer Mr. Wally Johnson <br />Deputy Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />SENIOR The purpose of this evening's workshop is to review a draft Request <br />HOUSING for Proposals for senior housing development on the southeast corner <br />RFP of Rice Street and Little Canada Road. The City Administrator reviewed with <br />the Council a phasing map for senior housing development in this area. He <br />reported that Phase I is proposed to include 60 to 80 units of senior market rate <br />17ousing plus 25,000 square feet of retail space. He noted that there has been <br />discussion about the City undertaking the Phase I project and pointed out that <br />other cities and counties have undertaken similar projects. The Administrator <br />^oted that if the City undertakes the Phase I project, his recommendation <br />would be to master lease the retail space. He reported that he has discussed a <br />master lease with the owners of the Market Place Shopping Center, and they <br />may be interested. <br />To update the Planning Commissioners who are present, the City <br />Administrator reported that The Venetian lnn property was going to be sold for <br />a use that was not in the best long-term redevelopment interests of the City. <br />
