MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />SEPTEMBER 13, 2000 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 13th day of <br />September, 2000 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at <br />515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Ms. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Public Works Dir. Mr. Greg Schroeder <br />Parks & Rec. Dir. Mr. Jim Morelan <br />Fire Chief Mr. Dick Boss <br />Fire Dept. Mr. Jim Gustafson <br />Accounting Supvr. Ms. Tina Hix <br />Deputy Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />2001 The City Administrator reported that the City must certify its preliminary <br />BUDGET levy for the 2001 Budget to Ramsey County by September 15, 2000. He <br />presented the proposed 2001 Budget and noted it projects a 6.89% <br />increase in the net levy. The Administrator reviewed his memo dated <br />September 12, 2000 in which he identifies several reasons for the <br />projected increase as well as areas that the Council should consider as <br />possibilities for reducing the proposed net levy. <br />The Administrator pointed out that PERA is projecting an actuarial deficit <br />that will likely cause a 1.5% increase in the City's contribution toward <br />employees' retirement plan. The estimated increase to the 2001 Budget is <br />$5,035. <br />The Administrator reported that the Sheriff s contract increase is projected <br />at $26,060. One impact to this budget is a projected increase in the DARE <br />program. A factor affecting that increase is Roseville School District's <br />use of the DARE/School Liaison Officer levy to pay for a greater share of <br />
