MINUTES OF TI3E WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />NOVEMBER 8, 2000 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 8°i day of November, <br />2000 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little <br />Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Hanson <br />Mr. Greg Schroeder <br />Mr. Jeff Oertel <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />PUBLIC WORKS The purpose of tonight's workshop meeting is to review the Public <br />GARAGE Works Garage Study prepared by Oertel Architects. Mr. Jeff Oertel, <br />STUDY Oertel Architects, appeared before the Council to present his study of the <br />City's Public Works Garage. Oertel noted that the garage is a metal <br />building that was constructed in 1979 similar to other metal building <br />construction during the 1970's and 1980's. The building has 12-foot wide <br />doors which presents a problem when bringing plow trucks with wings in <br />and out of the building. Oertel also reported that the mechanical systems <br />in the building are grossly inadequate from a ventilation standpoint. The <br />roof of the building often leaks given that it was put together with screws. <br />Oertel pointed out that in his report he stressed the life/safety issues that <br />need to be addressed with the Public Works Garage. He indicated that the <br />problems that he has identified are not uncommon with buildings of this <br />age and type. Oertel reported that the ventilation system in the building is <br />poor, not only in the garage area itself, but also in the office area. Exhaust <br />fumes from the garage area blow into the staff area. <br />Oertel reported that there a~-e several ADA compliance issues at the Public <br />Works Garage, and pointed out that the requirement is that 20% of the <br />
