MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 8, 2000
that there should be an additional reduction in the Capital Improvement
levy. He reported that he would have a recommendation ready for the
Council soon on closing out some TIF Districts, and he is projecting that
this will result in an additional $70,000 which could be put into the Capital
Improvement Budget.
Scalze asked about the proposal to budget $15,000 for fire hydrant
maintenance. The City Administrator indicated that the hydrants are in
need of attention. Options are being explored for addressing the hydrants,
and the Administrator felt it may be possible to get the work done for less
than $15,000.
Morelan asked if the Administrator had discussed with the Historical
Society the reduction proposed in their budget. The Administrator replied
that he did and Jean Donovan has indicated that the reduction is
acceptable.
Morelan pointed out that if the levy is bought done for this year, it will
have to be bought down in future years as well Morelan and Fahey felt
that the net levy increase should be certified at the 3.8% increase
proposed. Morelan suggested that the 8.1% decrease that was put in effect
last year may have been too large of a decrease.
The Administrator indicated that for purposes of the Truth In Taxation
hearing, the 3.8% net levy increase will be presented at that time.
TOBACCO Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
LICENSE -
RICE STREET RESOLUTIONNO. 2000-I1-266-APPROVINCiA T013A000
TOBACCO LICENSE FOR RICE STREET T073ACC0 FOR I ICENSE PERIOD
NOVEMBER 14, 2000 THROUGH .IUNE 30, 2001 SUBJECT TD
RECEIPT OFA SATIb"FACTORYb'HERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
BACKGROUND CHECK
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Fahey, Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze.
Nays (0).
