MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />February 3, 2000 <br />property, the developer had to readjust his plan. This adjustment resulted in additional <br />parkland for the City. Instead of a looped road now, there is a cul-de-sac running north fiom <br />Little Canada Road. A walking path is shown from the cul-de-sac to the park. <br />The Public Works DirecCOr stated that he gave a memo Co Che Council recommending a 10- <br />foot easemenC for the walking trail with an 8-foot bituminous path Chat would enable easier <br />maintenance. <br />The commission reconfirmed their previous motion made in October 1999 to accept land in <br />lieu of cash for the park charge on the Little Canada Road/Jackson Street development. <br />Broten asked if the developer was allowed to borrow soil from the parkland for use on the <br />development. The City Administrator felt the developer would not need the extra soil. <br />Sanders asked if drainage will be addressed on the north end of the parkland by installation <br />of a pond. The City Administrator stated that drainage will be reviewed during the platting <br />stage. <br />MUSIC IN Anderson asked if any Commission Members would like to volunteer to organize the Music <br />THE PARK in the Park series to be held every Wednesday evening in July. He commented that former <br />Commission Member Muriel Bianchi will be happy to help assist anyone who is interested. <br />Danielson agreed to organize this year's events. She stated that she will contact Bianchi for <br />the information. <br />Anderson stated that the Parks & Recreation Director may be willing to send letters <br />requesting donations to the charitable organizations in the City. An article should be placed <br />in the June issue of the City's newsletter. The deadline for that issue is April 24. The other <br />commission members indicated that they would help with flyer distribution and attendance at <br />the events. Pechman stated that she has last year's flyers on her computer and can easily <br />create this year's flyers. <br />Anderson thanked Danielson for volunteering to organize the Music in the Park series. <br />PROJECT Sanders reviewed plans for the Vadnais Boulevard trail and the Spooner/Gervais Mill park <br />UPDATES entrances with the Commission. <br />The Public Works Director commented that City staff has many projects to accomplish this <br />year. A list of those projects was distributed to the Commission members. He stated that <br />some of those projects may be able to be combined with the park entrance projects to achieve <br />a cost savings. The Public Works Director asked Sanders to continue working on the <br />specifications for the park entrance projects and submit them for City staff review. City staff <br />will then be able to see if any of our projects could be bid with the park entrance projects. <br />Sanders stated that the Pioneer lighting project is 90% complete. <br />OTHER Gray asked Sanders how the DNR grants meeting went.
