MINUTF,S
Parks & Recreation Commission
July 6, 2000
CONCERTS Danielson attended the first concert in the park last evening. There were approximately 40
people in attendance. The band put on a great performance. Overall, the first event went
well.
Danielson received the contract from the District Band and there was some strange verbage
to the contract. The District was contacted and the concerns about setup and their beverages
were worked out. The contract they use is standard for all their jobs and the wording did not
apply to the City performance.
Flyers have also been posted at the new coffee house on County Road C.
JACKSON Construction on the townhouses has begun.
STREET
PARK Sanders brought in the revised plan for the Jackson Street Park Development. Items changed
from the last design were due to the input of residents and commission members at the last
meeting. The design of a free form park was kept the same. The gazebo will remain in the
southwest corner of the park with the play area off of it. There will be landscaping with
flowers around that area. The walkway will free flow around the remainder of the park. On
the apartment side there will be a bridge to enter the park with the pond to the south of the
bridge. The overflow of the pond will run under the bridge into a reserve area. The
basketball court will run adjacent to the trail on the middle of the east side. Another thought
was also putting a plaque in the gazebo with some of the history of the area.
The Jackson Street Park Development plaits will also be brought to the Council workshop to
get feedback and the commission will invite the residents book at a later date to review the
proposed plans.
TRAIL Sanders distributed a list of uncompleted trail projects. The commission reviewed each trail
SYSTEM in regards to cost, timefi-ame, land ownership, feasibility, etc. After going tlu-ough each the
commission prioritized the trails from 1-10. Attached is the results of the session with 1
being the project of high priority.
COUNCIL Reminder of the Council Workshop Wednesday, July 12 at 6 p.m. Please try to make it.
WORKSHOP
DIRECTOR'S The Director reported on the following items:
REPORT
Handouts were passed out for Canadian Days, Soccer and Volleyball registration, and
Skyhawks which is in conjunction with Maplewood.
The first summer fieldtrip to Valleyfair was with N.
