MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF <br />1'HE VILLAGE OF LITTLE CANAlll-1 <br />ae ., ,. ,. <br />A special meeting of the Council of the Village of Little <br />Canada was held on Tuesday, June 1L1., 1955 at 7:00 Y.M. at the Little <br />Canada Fire Ha11. The following members were present: <br />1,ouis UJ. Melancon, Mayory Roy P. Nadeau, Clerk; <br />Carl Spooner, John IUt. Vitale, Trustees. <br />Edward R. Loeffler, Trustee, was absent. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Harry Greene. were present. Mrs. Grace Greene: <br />appeared with reference to an application for a 3.2 beer license for <br />the Aragon Nite Club at 27;6 NortYz Rice Street. There was a discus- <br />sion concerning the Greene.+s proposed purchase of the Aragon. Mr. <br />Greene said he intends to clean up the place and do some remodeling. <br />He also stated that his contract :for deed provides that if he or his <br />vaife could not receive a 3.2 beer license, the sale is cancellable and <br />and the contract void. <br />Mr. Spooner asked why Mr. Greene applies for a license in <br />his wife+s name instead of his own name. I-Iis answer was that Mrs. <br />Greene is purchasing the Aragon in the belief that she can make it <br />pay. He stated that he now holds a liquor license in his own name <br />with the H. G. Corporation at 457 Wabasha Street in St. Paul which <br />is now closed. <br />The Clerk expiasned to Mr, and Mrs. Greene that the policy <br />of the Village Council is to confine licenses to residents of the <br />Village only, and also to make a complete investigation through the <br />sheriff's office and through the municipality vrhere the applicant <br />].Ives. <br />Upon rnotion by IUayor Melancon, seconded by Nadeau, the ap- <br />plication of Grace Greene, was taken Lander advisement and referred to <br />the license committee for investigation. <br />Upon motion b y Spooner, seconded by Nadeau, the meeting <br />ad,jvurned at 7cl+0 P.M. <br />Respectfully sixbmitted, <br />Walter oenen,~Asst.
