<br />MINU`PF.S OF THE bJ1EE'PING <br />OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE <br />VILLAGE OF LITTLE CANADA <br />a; ., ae <br />The: regular meeting of the Council of the Village of Lit- <br />tle Canada was held at the Little Canada Fire Hall on Tuesday, Janu- <br />ary S, 195'7 at 7:30 Y.M. Thz following Council members werz present: <br />Louis W. Melancon, Mayor; Roy P. Nadeau, Clerk; <br />Edvrard R. Loeffler, Carl Spooner and John M. <br />Vitale, Trustees. <br />Also present were Walter Coenzn, Treasurzr; Fred P. Memmer, Village At- <br />torney; Louis Jespzrsen, Road Supzrintendznt; and Oscar F. Londin, <br />Building Inspector. <br />The oath of office was administered to officials who wise <br />elected on December 1~_, 1956 by Louis W. Melancon, Mayor. Sworn in <br />were Carl„Spooner, Trustee (second term), Walter Coznen, Treasurer <br />(first ft l°term), and Roy P. Nadeau, Cler}r (third term). These <br />officers each signed a written copy of his oath of office, ail of <br />which wise filed with the Clerk as a perntartent rer.ord of the Village. <br />Minutes of the regular mzeting of December 11, 1956 were <br />read and accepted. <br />Mr. Spooner asked whether or not the Village must adopt an <br />ordinance in order to authorize the officers of the Little Canada <br />Volunteer Fire Department to inspect buildings within the Village for <br />fire hazards. There was some discussion of this subject and it was <br />,referred to the Village Attorney for a report at the next meeting, <br />Mr. Bjerken, Superintendent of Weed Control for the State <br />of Minnesota, appeared before the Council and stated his findings as <br />to wezd growi:h in the Village. He said that our local Weed Inspector, <br />Michael Stzynske, was doing a very goad job with the equipment he <br />has. Mr, Bjerken also stated that with an addition of some small <br />equiprnznt, weed growth could be kept to a minimum. He also advised <br />the Council that weed control notices should be posted prior to June <br />15th in ordzr to give property owners sufficient time to cut or other- <br />wise destroy noxious weeds on their property. If such notice is pro- <br />perly posted, the inspzctor wilt then be in a good position to give <br />warnings anal, if necessary, to assess penalties against violators. <br />He concluded his statement by again repeating that the weed problem <br />in Little Canada is not serious. <br />Mr. Lyle Christensen of 66 AAcLeod Avenue, Hutchinson, A6inne- <br />sota, appeared before the Council and asked for permission to estab» <br />lash a dry cleanir'tg shop in an old hou e at ?_61b Rice Street. He was <br />advised that this property would nzcessarily have to be rezoned for <br />such use as he proposes. He was advised as to rezoning procedure. <br />
