MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF LI'Pl'LE CANADA
~ ~
Pursuant to call, a special meeting of the Council of the Village of
Little Canada was held Friday, January 31, 1958, at 6:30 P.M. at the Fire Ha11 at
41F0 E. Little Canada Road. The following Council members were present:
Louis W. Melancon, Mayor; Roy P. Nadeau, Clerk; Edward R.
Loeffler, Carl Spooner, John M. Vitale, Trustees.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Melancon who stated that this
meeting was called by him fox the purpose of discussing the employment of police
officers and police matters generally.
The Mayor stated that he had conferred with Sheriff Gibbons and the sher-
iff had advised him to the effect that the V311.age,could continue to expect the
amount of police protection it has been receiving from the sheriff's deputies. The
Mayor advised the Council that his purpose in seeing the Sheriff was to determine
whether or not Little Canada could expect any increase in the number of hours of
deputy sheriff patrolling during the coming year. Since the Sheriff indicated that
there would be no decrease or increase in the amount of service from his office, it
is apparent that if we desire more traffic patrol service than we now have, the
Village will have to increase Sts own police force.
Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was
'=RESOLVED, That Myers Frattalone be and is hereby appointed
Chief of Police for the year 1958."
Ayes - 5 Nays - 0
The resolution was adopted.
Upon motion by Nadeau, seconded by Spooner, it was
"RESOLVED, That the Chief of Police be and 3s hereby author-
ized to put in forty (40) hours police work per month from October
lst to March 31st, and fifty (50) hours per month from April lat
to September 30th, and that hie compensation be established at 'Two
and 00100 ($2.00) Dollars per hour and that he receive Fifteen
and 00100 ($15.00) Dollars per month car expenses, azsithat the
Village continue to pay the difference in his automobile insurance
premium between an ordinary policy and a policy covering police
work."
Ayes - 5 Nays - 0
The resolution was adopted.
Upon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was
"RESOLVED, That Henry Auge be and 3s hereby appointed a police
officer for the Village of Little Ganada on a temporary basis."
Ayes - 5 Nays - 0
