Regular Meeting - December 10, 1958 <br />i-. <br />The Village Attorney pointed out; to the Couneil that a portion of <br />Noc;l Street, north of h].ttle Canada Road, directly across from St. Johns Cemetery <br />i.s partially encroached upon by private property, according to fhe descriptions ].n <br />a 'rorrens 12egistration Proceeding which was determined by the District Court in <br />1943. <br />Upon motion by Vitale, seconded by Nadeau, it was <br />"RESOLVED, That the Village Attorney be and is hereby <br />directed and authorized to negotiate for the purchase of <br />that portion of the Registered Property Ownership, which is <br />located in the Noel Street right-of-way." <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />The resolution was adopted. <br />Mr. Carley, Village Engineer, reported to the Council on his negotiations <br />with the State Highway Department concerning the installation of aderyuate culverts <br />and stornnvaters drainage at Highway #36 and McMenemy Road. He advised the Council <br />that the State Highway Department has now decided that it will onlarge the stornnvai:er <br />pipes at no expense to the Village. <br />Mr. Ted Lillie, publisher of the 12amsey County Review, North Sto Paul, <br />appeared before the Coxuxcil and stated that he wanted to have the Council consider <br />naming the Ramsey County Review as its legal newspaperfor 'the year 1959.. He handed <br />copies of his paper 'to the Councilmen and gave some figures regarding circulation, <br />etc. He stated that he will make a special effort to solicit subscriptions in <br />Little Canada. <br />Upon motion by Nadeau, seconded by Vitale, it was <br />"RESOLVED, 'Phat the Village Attorney be and i.s hereby <br />authorized and directed to appear before a meeting of the <br />Ramsey County Legislative Research Committee, a group made <br />up of all members oi' the Legislature from Ramsey County, and <br />request that legislation be enacted during the coming <br />session which will authorize the Village to obtain additional <br />police service from the Ramsey County Sheriff by contractual <br />arrangement with the Ramsey County Board of Coimnissioners and <br />that such legislation be set up as permissive and not <br />manda'tory.° <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />Mr. Oscar Lundln reported to the Council that he has placed red tags <br />on two dilapidated buildings on the property owned by Mrs. Ho G. Costello, which is <br />located between Edgerton Street and Lake Garvais, and further that he, as Building <br />Inspector,reeommends condemnation of these buildings. <br />Upon motion by Nadeau, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />"RESOLVED, That the Village Conncil., acting upon the <br />recommendation of. its Building Inspector as provided by the <br />Village Building Code, does hereby condemn the two buildings <br />- 4 -- <br />
