P,4IVUTES OIL' SPliCIAL HEE'L'ING OF THE VILLAGE OIL' LITTLE CANADA - NiAY 4, 1960 <br />'t'he Mayor announced that this is a specia]. meeting ca:1].ed for the purpose of <br />acquainting the residents of the area in that portion of the Village south of Highway 36 <br />lying between Edgerton Street and I/[clvTenemy Street with the facts and figures concerning <br />instal.lati.on of sanitary sewers throughout that particular part of Little Canada. <br />Approximately 50 people were present. <br />I,]r.. Frederick P. Hemmer, Village Attorney, explained in detail the Financial <br />cost of sewer construction and also explained at length the manner in which the sewer <br />cost would have to be assessed. Re explained details of what arrangements could be <br />made with Maplewood and also what arrangements would have to be made vrith the City o£ <br />St. Paul. <br />'t'here were numerous questions, all of which were answered. IVIx•. Edward Erickson, <br />who is a resid.er;t of the Village but not of 'the area where sewer has been requested, <br />pointed out that he believed if any sewer construction is undertaken in the above <br />described area, the entire cost should be paid by benefitted property owners and that <br />no part of the cost should. become a general. obligation of the Village. He also stated <br />that he felt that street repair, after sewers vrere installed, should be paid For by <br />assessment against the benefitted property. <br />Upon Motion by Vitale, seconded by Coenen, it was <br />R13SOLVED, that the data presented at this meeting should be prepared <br />in the form of a mimeograph bulletin which should be delivered to every home in the <br />asea where sewer has been requested and that this bulletin, when distributed, should <br />also indicate the time and place vrhen the official improvement meeting is to be held, <br />such meeting to be scheduled at least two or three weeks from now in order to give the <br />people of the are an aoportunity to thoroughly study and discuss the information that <br />will. be presented in tYa bulletin so that vrhen the meeting is held, everybody will be <br />prepared 'to attend the hearing and present their argnaments for and against the improve-: <br />ment with full knowledge of the Facts. <br />Ayes - 5 ways - 0 <br />Upon Motion by Vitale, seconded by Spooner, it was <br />RESOLVED, that a hearing be set for May 16th, 1960, at 7:30 P. Nt. in the <br />Little Canada Fire Hall to hear proponents and opponents of a petition for rezoning <br />property located at Jackson and Demont Streets described as: <br />hot 6 except the East 220 .feet thereof and al.l of Lot 7 i.n 131ock 1 <br />North Park according to the plat thereof on file acrd of recoxd in <br />the office of the Register of Deeds in and for Ramsey County, <br />and that the Clerk forthwith post the proper notices for said hearing. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 <br />Upon Motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.P,4. <br />byes - 5 Nays - 0 1 <br />_ Vi.l.l~e L'lerk. <br />B7ayo <br />
