VILLAGE_OF LIT`1'LE CIuTADA SPECIAL ME;E'PING -^AIIGUST 24, 1.960 <br />A special meeting of the Council o£ the Village of Little Canada eras <br />held on August 24, 1860, at 6:30 P. M. at the Little Canada Fire Hall. <br />Present were: L. Melancon, W. Coenen, Carl Spooner, Ed Loeffler and <br />:John Vitale. <br />Mayor Melancon read a letter of resignation from John J. Oman, Justice <br />o£ Peace, said resi~,mat].on to be effective September ].st, 1g60. <br />iJpon motion by Spooner, seconded by Loeffler, it was <br />RESOLVED, `t'hat the resignation be accepted. <br />Ayes - 5 IQays - 0 <br />'Phe Mayor read a letter which he had prepared to forward to the <br />St. Paul llispatch explaining the status of the Village with reference to Joiui J. <br />Oman, Justice of the Peace. <br />Mayor Melancon reported to the Council that he had appeared before the <br />County ]Board nn Monday, August 22, 1860, and explained to th.e Board of County <br />Commissioners some of the history behind the argument about weed cutting in Little <br />Canada. Iie pointed out to the Council that the chief complainer, Yaul Nachtshei.m, <br />had not appeared before the County Board on that date although he had indicated that <br />he would. <br />The Mayor presented an ordinance for the purpose o.f li.censing gasoline <br />fi].].ing stations in the Village of Little Canada and explained that the reason for <br />offering this ordinance is to give the Council some cnntrol over the :Location of <br />such businesses within the Village. l1e explained that the Village only has tyro miles <br />of commercial land area along Rice Street from Cnunty Road :d to North Owasso Boulevard <br />and that there are many rumors of proposals for gas stations at almost every corner <br />along this two mi.1e strip.
