MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION OCTOBER 10, 2019 moving bundles because they move two at a time, and 14 feet only allows a stack of five bundles, but 17 feet would allow them to stack 6 bundles and haul three full loads instead of two and a half loads. He stated they spent over $400,000 paving the storage yard but it is a safety issue. Roger Stanke, owner of the commercial building at 209 Ryan Drive, stated, that over the last four to five years when the wind is from the north on certain days, he gets a significant amount of sawdust from Pallet Service blown on to his property. He noted that since the railroad cut down the trees behind his building, he has no protection from the sawdust. He stated that he also saw staff from Pallet Service Corporation pushing sawdust and scrap lumber into the pond behind their property. Schwalbach asked if the height of the storage stacks would have anything to do with contributing to the sawdust blowing around. Mr. Wenner stated that the stacks have nothing to do with the sawdust. He reported that he was unaware of the extent of the sawdust problem and noted they have dust collectors, so he will look into the issue. Johnson stated that since the higher stacks would not contribute to the sawdust problem, she feels that is a separate issue. Thorson agrees that the sawdust is a separate issue. Mr. Wenner stated that their scrap lumber has value so they would not want to lose any in the pond. Johnson moved approval of a Planned. Unit Development Amendment for Pallet Service Corporation at 3213 Country Drive to increase the outdoor storage height limitation from 14 feet to 17 feet. Motion seconded by Westadt.
