~i~ihc ~. ~ssoa.~r~s <br />taut noatu <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Little Canada Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer <br />DATE: September 18, 2008 <br />RE: Walter Street Trail Improvements <br />Change Order #1 <br />Background <br />Upon review of the proposed Walter Street trail alignment from the existing trail east to <br />the proposed boardwalk location a seasonal spring and area of poor soils was <br />encountered. To complete construction of the trail through this section an increased <br />gravel section was needed along with the construction of a ditch and drain the to direct <br />the water away from the trail and down to the wetland to the east. In addition, due to <br />delays in the construction of the trail and increased oil prices since bidding the architect <br />is recommending a lump sum increase in the bituminous for the project to cover the <br />increased costs. <br />Summary and Recommendations <br />Due to the conditions in the field and the requested changes additional compensation <br />should be provided to the Contractor and as such the Architect has prepared the <br />attached Change Order #1 in the amount of $6,935.00. Based on conversations with the <br />Architect and City staff and field inspection of the conditions we would recommend <br />approval of Change Order #1.
