MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />AUGUST 25, 2021 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 25th day of August, 2021 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor John Keis called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the City <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Keis, Council Members McGraw, Fischer, Torkelson and Miller. <br />Absent: None. <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Chris Heineman, Public Works Director Bill Dircks, Parks <br />& Rec/Community Services Manager Bryce Shearen, Finance Director Brenda Malinowski, <br />Community Development Director Corrin Wendell and City Clerk/HR Manager Heidi Heller. <br />MINUTES <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2021-8-96 — APPRO VING THE MINUTES OF THE A UGUST 11, <br />2021 WORKSHOP AND THE A UGUST 11, 2021 REGULAR MEETINGS AS <br />SUBMITTED <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution adopted. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />None. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Richard Flipp, 431 Brooks Avenue, stated that his home was selected to be on the American Hosta <br />Tour next year and he has over 5,000 hostas that have no leaves left because of the deer. He <br />explained that typically the sprays will help keep deer away but it is not this year. He is asking the <br />Council to hold a deer hunt this year and keep doing them. Keis stated that the deer count numbers <br />were not high enough and the Council had opted to not conduct the hunt this year. The City <br />Administrator stated that the Council had opted not to hold it this year, and there had been no <br />complaints about deer, so it is good that we are hearing of an actual issue. He stated that there is a <br />possibility to do a hunt in a targeted area. Mr. Flipp stated that it could be due to the drought this <br />year that they will eat anything. Keis asked the City Administrator to contact the Bowhunters group <br />and ask about the possibility of doing a small hunt. The City Administrator stated he would get <br />some information and bring it back to Council for consideration. <br />
