Other liquor license fees are listed below and staff is recommending no increases in these fees
for 2020:
2am Liquor License ½ of the State License Fee On-Sale
3.2 Intoxicating Malt Liquor $150
Off-Sale 3.2 Intoxicating Malt Liquor $150
State Statute requires that a public hearing be held to consider increases in liquor license fees,
and notice of the proposed increase were mailed to all affected license holders at least 30 days
prior to the hearing date.
Due to the public health situation with COVID 19 and how it is currently affecting the
economy, especially the food and hospitality industry, staff recommends that the City Council
consider no increase to the liquor license fees in 2020. The license fee increase was included in
the 2020 Budget, so this would decrease the anticipated license fees collected by $1,836. The
public hearing notices were mailed to the liquor license holders on February 19, prior to the
COVID 19 situation becoming as severe as it is now. Staff has not received any comments to
date.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Council discuss the two options for liquor licenses fees. If the Council
chooses not to increase the liquor license fees in 2020, no further action is needed.
If the Council decides to move forward with increasing the liquor license fees, staff
recommends a motion to approve a 4.193% increase to the 2020 Liquor License fees and adopt
Ordinance 841 which amends the Fee Schedule for the license fee changes.
