Great River Greening is requesting a letter of support from the City of Little Canada as part of its
submittal package. GRG is also working with Xcel Energy to get support for the project as well
as a commitment of additional funds. It should be noted that Xcel Energy has funded the first
phase of seeding that was completed in February and they have expressed interest in continuing
to partner with the City and the US Fish & Wildlife Service as the project moves forward.
BUDGETARY IMPACT
$25,000 has been budgeted in 2020/21 in the Fund 400 CIP Budget for Habitat Restoration in
Thunder Bay/Westwinds Linear Park. These funds along with other potential funding partners
will be used if Great River Greening proposal is accepted for funding.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve a Motion authorizing the Mayor to sign a letter of
support for Great River Greening to seek funding for the Pollinator II grant through the
Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund.
ATTACHMENTS:
•Partnership Proposal with Great River Greening Application
•Budget Estimate for Grant Submission
•Draft Letter of Support
