City of Little Canada 8-13 Water Supply Plan
39BTable 8-16: Utilizing surface water as an alternative source
Surface Water
Source Name
Capacity
(GPM)
Capacity
(MGD)
Treatment Needs Note Any Limitations
On Use

Roseville is also a wholesale customer of St. Paul Regional Water Services so if there was a problem with
SPRWS then water would not be available to either city and our interconnection would not work. At that
point we would have to look at bottled water and potentially tying into Vadnais Heights. They are on well
water so there would be some complications but if it were a long-term issue it may be necessary. Little
Canada has a dead end valve located less than 20 feet from a dead end Vadnais Heights valve.

40BAllocation and Demand Reduction Procedures
41BTable 8-17: Water use priorities
Customer Category Allocation
Priority

Average Daily
Demand (GDP)
Short-Term
Emergency Demand
Reduction Potential
(GPD)
Residential 1 611,000 220,000
Institutional 2 22,000 7,000
Commercial 4 205,000 100,000
Industrial 3 25,000 15,000
Irrigation 5 71,000 71,000
Wholesale NA NA NA
Non-Essential 6 10,000 10,000
TOTAL NA NA 423,000
GPD – Gallons per Day
42BTable 8-18: Emergency demand reduction conditions, triggers and actions
Emergency Triggers Short-term Actions Long-term Actions
☒ Contamination
☐ Loss of production
☒ Infrastructure failure
☒ Executive order by
Governor
☐ Other:
_____________
☒ Supply augmentation through
Emergency interconnection
with Roseville
☒ Adopt (if not already) and
enforce a critical water
deficiency ordinance to
penalize lawn watering,
vehicle washing, golf course
and park irrigation & other
nonessential uses.
☐ Water allocation through____
☒ Meet with large water users to
discuss their contingency plan.

☒ Supply augmentation through
Interconnection with Roseville
☒ Adopt (if not already) and
enforce a critical water
deficiency ordinance to
penalize lawn watering,
vehicle washing, golf course
and park irrigation & other
nonessential uses.
☐ Water allocation through____
☒ Meet with large water users to
discuss their contingency
plan.
