COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

Page 2

COVID‐19 Preparedness Plan for City of Little Canada
Updated June 24, 2020

The City of Little Canada is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. To
ensure that, we have developed the following Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All City Staff are all responsible for implementing and complying with all aspects of this Plan. Our goal is to
mitigate the potential for transmission of the COVID-19 virus in each of our workplaces, and that requires
full cooperation among workers and management. Only through a cooperative effort can we establish and
maintain safe and healthy workplaces.
We are serious about safety and health and keeping our employees working at the City of Little Canada.
You are our most important asset, and employee involvement is essential in developing and implementing
a successful COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. We have involved our workers in this process by checking in with
staff regularly on their health concerns and comfort level and moving staff in the office and in the field to
provide more social distancing. We have also adjusted shift schedules and limited the number of staff in
the office at a time resulting in many staff work from home. Our Plan follows CDC and Minnesota
Department of Health Guidelines and federal OSHA standards related to COVID-19 and addresses:
• Hygiene and respiratory etiquette
• Engineering and administrative controls for social distancing
• Housekeeping – cleaning, disinfecting and decontamination
• Prompt identification and isolation of sick persons
• Communications and training that will be provided to managers and workers
• Management and supervision necessary to ensure effective implementation of the Plan

COMMUNICATIONS AND TRAINING
This plan was communicated through email to all staff on April 24, 2020 and this updated plan will be
communicated to staff on June 25, 2020 after Council approval. Additional communication will be emailed
to all staff as new information is received, and training will be provided to all workers as necessary. The
Leadership Team will monitor how effective the program has been implemented by frequent discussions
with staff and observations. All City Staff are to work through this new program together and update the
information or training as necessary. This updated plan will be posted at City Hall, the Public Works
Building and Old Fire Hall on Thursday, June 25, 2020 and will be updated as needed.
Reviewed & Certified by:
Chris Heineman, City Administrator
