STAFF REPORT
TO:Mayor Keis and Members of City Council
FROM:Chris Heineman, City Administrator
DATE:July 8, 2020 City Council Meeting
RE:Ramsey County Presentation on Business Development Resources
BACKGROUND:
Ramsey County is home to 550,000 resident and more than 18,000 businesses. Technology, healthcare,
manufacturing, and construction are rapidly growing industries within Ramsey County. With a strong
business ecosystem that supports regional growth, Ramsey County has been consistently attracting
new businesses and helping established ones to expand.
To facilitate this consistent growth, Ramsey County Community & Economic Development (CED)
provides access to financial incentives and hands-on business support while acting as the first stop for
site selectors searching for community information and available sites. Ramsey County has
consolidated several resources on a dashboard to help businesses recover from the impacts of
COVID-19. This page is frequently updated as new resources and programs become available.
Additional resources can be found on ramseycounty.us/coronavirus.
Earlier this year (prior to COVID-19) I had asked if a representative from the Ramsey County EDA
would be available to provide a presentation on Business Development Resources that are available in
Little Canada and throughout Ramsey County. Director of Community and Economic Development
Kari Collins and Economic Development Specialist Rick Howden will provide a presentation via
Zoom and answer any questions you may have.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
This presentation is for information purposes only and no action is requested.
